Individual Relationship Counseling

You may be feeling frustrated or hopeless in your relationship.

You may feel like you're banging your head against a wall.

You may feel like you need more support.

We at Colorado Relationship Recovery know how painful it is to not get through to your partner.

Our focus is relationships; if your partner is unwilling to go to therapy, we are here to help and support you.

How we support individuals

First, we listen to you.

We understand your side and what you are feeling.

We provide presence and support.

Then, we collaborate on what you can do on your side to change the dynamic.

And we help you show up authentically and with healthy self-esteem and boundaries.

Healthy self-esteem and your relationship

Take a look at the chart below; our aim is the middle.

As the chart states, healthy self-esteem is equally valuing yourself and the relationship.

Healthy self-esteem and your family of origin

In individual therapy, we may examine the experiences, messages, and themes you experienced growing up that may have led to times of undervaluing or overvaluing yourself.

Inner child work

We can help you cultivate a compassionate relationship with the younger parts of you or older ego states.

Through minds-eye work, we guide you, as the wise adult you are, to have a compassionate, loving, and healing conversation with that younger part of you.

This can be a healing and transformative experience which cultivates healthy self-esteem.

Healthy boundaries

We usually look at boundaries as telling people what you are OK and not OK with.

For example, a healhy boundary may be telling your spouse you are not OK with them spending more than $500 without telling you.

Knowing your boundaries will also help you know yourself.

We help you know and practice your boundaries.

We also help you practice functional psychological boundaries.

This includes your listening (protective) and speaking (containing) boundaries.

We help you understand your style and guide you to practice functional boundaries so you are more likely to get what you want.
